MARCH OF THE DEAD 2010 !!!

Here are some wonderful photos by Gualtiero Fisauli of last months Halloween parade 'March of the Dead'.
The annual street parade up the Kingsland road attracted more than 800 people and most of the local residents were popping their heads out to watch the mighty march go by. At Gillet Square in Dalston, revellers were greeted by freakish dancers who led a mass dance off on the square.
We are working on a video that should be posted up very soon and many more photos to come. This years parade was the biggest and most ambitious ever, and without you it would never happen.

Remembering Clerkenwell.

Over the last few weeks we have been working at Central Saint martins with some students from the BA Theatre design course.
We explored the area and its history, and how to create a street theatre event.
The students worked in groups to create characters and costumes for the parade.
On the day itself we were lead by a guide on a very surreal tour of the surrounding streets, where we were hijacked by a gang of wonderful characters.
More theatre in the streets we say!!

Barbican Do Something Different Weekend

StrangeWorks attended the "Do Something Different Weekend" at the Barbican. They arrived in the guise of 2 puppets. Ravana with 3 heads & 6 arms (unfortunately his other 7 heads and 14 arms were chopped off in a previous fight) and Rama on a tiny elephant with his monkey army who came along to keep Ravana out of trouble.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM STRANGEWORKS

The Keeper of Leeuwarden

In Nov 2009 Strangeworks went on tour to Holland. As guest artists at the Pop Academy of Leeuwarden, in the north of Holland, we worked with 10 students on a very theatrical street parade.
The students worked on four different characters who lived or were born in Leeuwarden and Strangeworks interpreted the Keeper of Leeuwarden (a fictional character created for the parade) through a huge scale puppet.
The audience paraded through the streets whilst meeting theses characters at certain stopping points.
Together we created a show never to be forgotten by the people of this small town.
